1121: Driving People Crazy With Me

While the first two have more conformity with the outside but were not good, THIS has much less of such conformity but I consider it good.

Now I switch my evaluation to neither is good. I have better to represent both cases below, but I brought those because of the minimal change in facial expression. Anyway, HERE is one on the good side from a video made days earlier in 2017 .

THIS is a combination for two snapshots I took for myself from a video made in 2017. They are just three seconds apart, yet my evaluation says that I look good in one but not the other or at least that one is much better than the other.

1120: Women Ushering New Era In Soccer

 Every time I go back to watching more men soccer I again feel impressed about how much soccer was like just a group of instrument players sitting together but women, especially the NWSL, made it an orchestra. And this goes on top of their competitiveness in individual skills. They are showing soccer as entertaining to a level that was far from the world and the like of which a rare occurrence. Even within this short history of being under attention, matches played at a level that may make them called match of the century or something of that sort on the men side are passed on like a regular thing here.

I wrote this while watching Real Madrid vs Barcelona men's match of 2005, and except for few moments of individual skills it is more boring than NWSL matches occurred in the hot weather even though that one had occurred on November 19.

1119: For A Cleaner Soccer

 I have also talked about this before. The soccer I am familiar with does not require the capability to resist pushing applied to you beyond the shoulder to shoulder contact, and I do not know how one could generate enough force to make the other person fall or lose balance if it is truly just shoulder to shoulder contact. To me it is all about the skills and not even a little bit about body strength and stability against challenging forces applied by other players. Unfortunately, it seems like some referees allow such force applications and thereby killing true soccer talents affected by that. And although there could be a difference on this, I also do not see a place in soccer for extending to the side the hand intentionally for preventing the other player from getting to the ball.

For that arm extending thing, it seems like a technical rule can be made to solve a big part of the issue, and that rule is not to allow such extending if the underarm angle is over 45 degrees.

1118: NWSL Season Period

In addition to better dealing with the weather, dividing the off period into two, one for winter and one for summer, seems to also be a good solution for the exhaustion issue. I do not think that having all that period in one chunk is needed for recovery. I wonder what the players themselves think. I also would understand  if a majority of the players say that they prefer to take the whole off period in summer because they see that avoiding the hot weather is also the best way to avoid exhaustion.

To be fair, I think the effect of the kind of weather especially the heat and humidity need to be taken into account for evaluating performance in both genders soccer. I even read Yesterday about how Maradona objected to the time assigned for the match of 86 against England and was labeled trouble maker because of that.

Are you kidding me? What a change in performance for the matches of August 23 to 31 (which is what I am currently at) in comparison with that during the hot weather period! And, of special interest to me is how the defense is more active and has much less, if any, of those pausing moments. Most if not all the goals I saw in this period are the result of the attack performing better than the defense rather than the defense having that lacking.

If the physical activity itself is not enough to keep one worm in winter, there is also the option of wearing more or thicker clothes (although current FIFA rules may need to change to allow more options for that). But what would you do in hot and humid weather? Carry your own air-condition machine with you? Also, does it have to be that all winter is avoided while all summer is taken? The season could for example skip December, January and mid June to mid August. In addition, the scheduling could be required to be by as much as possible for that places closer to the south to have matches during the colder months and places closer to the north to have matches during the hotter months. 

However, as I said before, I have not seen before soccer matches played while the sun is still strong like I saw that in the NWSL. Avoiding UV danger is clearly even more important than playing in comfortable weather.

 I have talked about this before and here is another reminder. I wonder how much when making any tradeoff here there was careful and sufficient taking into account for how much hot whether affects the quality of the playing. Frankley speaking, in general, the quality has deteriorated from probably mid May, while in the matches of August 23 (which I am currently at) it seems to have made a big leap for the better. 

By the way, how about the goal at around 1:25:26 video time of THIS  match?

1116: Those Green Cards in Volleyball

Just want to bring to attention that players representing undemocratic countries may not have the option to make such admissions even if they want to do that.

 While commentators keep mentioning that there is a prize for the team who wins the most of them as if the amount of that prize  is really worthy of consideration, I feel no doubt that the players who make those admissions would have done so with and without any prize because they do it from a moral ground and for their win to be real not fake.
